An external recruitment action - the first for years - at the tax office has produced a flood of responses. More than 6,000 people have digitally applied for the approximately 500 available functions, which are to provide further support in the area of supervision.
The recruitment action is a result of the job-freeze lift that was announced in April by former State Secretary for Finance Joop Wijn and which came into immediate effect. The job-freeze was established in 2003 within the framework of budgetary measures.
By the end of June, full-page advertisements for the recruitment of new employees appeared in the national daily papers, generating the enormous response of applications. It is envisaged the first new employees will start training in September.
