Vat exemptions - funeral cases

Question:

Hello, I see the burial/cremation is exempt from vat in the Netherlands. Is there no vat on exporting funeral cases also? I do not see anything related in your knowledge base. I am looking at having a Netherlands company build funeral cases and export them to another country that is not in the eu or covered by any eu vat requirements.

Thank you for your assistance.

Answer:

The VAT exemption for burial/cremation is only applicable for services provided directly related to a burial/cremation. The sale of individual funeral cases is not exempted from VAT.

If the funeral case is exported to a business client outside the Netherlands/EU, the export is taxed at a rate of 0%. VAT will be paid on the import of the case to the customs in the country where it is exported to.
