Salary requirement knowledge migrant 2016

The required salary for knowledge migrants/blue card holders for 2016 are:

  • knowledge migrant of 30 years or older: € 4,240 gross per month excluding holiday allowance
  • knowledge migrant younger than 30 years: € 3,108 gross per month excluding holiday allowance
  • knowledge migrant who graduated at an institution for higher education or university in the Netherlands less than 1 year before starting a job: € 3,108 gross per month excluding holiday allowance.
  • holder of a European Blue Card: € 4,968 gross per month excluding holiday allowance.

As you can see a minimum gross salary per month is required, not a minimum gross salary per year. If it turns out that during a couple of months the salary stays below the required level, the IND (Dutch Immigration Service) can start asking questions and decide that the salary is not high enough to remain qualified as knowledge migrant.

Hi, Are these salary requirements applicable for those who started their work in Netherlands in 2014 as knowledge migrant and still working with same employer? Thanks in advance. Jnanesh

The salary requirements of the year you came to the Netherlands will remain applicable while you are in the Netherlands, in your case the 2014 amounts. So the required salary is not increased for you every year, only for people who newly arrive in the Netherlands.

Hi, Thanks for the answer. What happens if my contract ends at the end of December 2016, and the same employer is going to give a new contract from 1-1-2017. Does the salary requirements still stays as per 2014? or Does the new rules applicable?

The required salary is indexed every year based on the inflation. For 2017 a higher salary is required.
