Losing job and 30% tax ruling


I lost my job and may not have a new job within 3 months - it could be 4 months. How can I keep the 30% tax ruling?


To be able to get the 30% ruling again for your new employment the gap between the last workday at your previous employer and the day you sign an employment contract with your new employer should not be more than 3 months. So the signing date is important, not the actual first workday. You may be able to arrange that the signing date takes place within these 3 months. If not you will lose the 30% ruling.

1 question: if i signed off the actual contract after 3 month and 1 week and got my official job offer exactly within 3 month period, will i lose the 30% ruling?

Important is that the new job was secured within 3 months. The signing date is a good indication, but if you signed the contract just after 3 months but you can prove (with correspondence) that you and your employer agreed within the 3 months period that you were hired then you should be able to convince the tax authorities.
