Can I deduct the school fees which I paid for my children?

School fees

The school fees which you pay for your children are not deductible in your tax return. Only the education costs of your self or your fiscal partner can be deducted as education costs.

Tax free reimbursement of international school fees

If you have the 30% ruling it is possible that your employer reimburses the costs of an international school to you tax free, on top of the already tax free 30% allowance. Your employer is not obliged to do this. But it may be possible to exchange taxable salary for a tax free reimbursement of the international school fees.

Be aware though that if the taxable salary is reduced also the basis for the 30% ruling is reduced and the basis for other related benefits like a company pension, unemployment benefit etc.

Fees paid for a regular school, not an international school, can't be reimbursed tax free.
