1. Several months before you reach the age of 65, you should send an old-age pension application to the Social Security Bank (Sociale Verzekeringsbank) using a special form; consult NL01055 to find the address of this organisation. You can also obtain the address from your post office. If your application shows that you have previously been insured in other Member States, an application will be submitted on your behalf to the relevant countries, where applicable. If you are awarded a foreign pension, you will be notified by the Social Security Bank (Sociale Verzekeringsbank). A foreign pension will not change the amount of the Dutch pension to which you are entitled.

The Dutch old-age pension starts on the first day of the month in which you reach the age of 65. You may lose money if your pension application is submitted more than one year later.

2. If you live in another Member State from the EU:

Even if you are living in another Member State, you retain your entitlement to old-age pension from the Netherlands. You can submit your application to the pension insurance institution of your country of residence. This institution can also tell you whether you are entitled to health care.

3. If you work in the Netherlands, you may also be eligible for the application of a supplementary pension scheme. Details can be obtained from your employer, who will inform you of any rights you may have in this respect.
