The Dutch top enterprise league
Europe is overtaking
the US as the true home of the entrepreneur, and the Netherlands
leads the list, according to a survey by the Economist Intelligence
Unit and private equity firm Apax Partners. The survey put the Netherlands
in top place with a score of 8.44 while Denmark and the UK were
in joint second place with a score of 8.39. The US and Switzerland
tied in fourth place on 8.34. The index covers 60 countries and
its rankings are produced by assessing trends from the last five
years and predictions until 2006. A survey last week showed that
the 25 fastest growing firms in the Netherlands had created 10,000
new jobs over the past five years.
