Checklist buying a property

1 Check your status - EU citizens have an automatic right of residence in another EU member country .

2 Non-EU citizens can still be successful but with harder criteria.

3 You will need:

- A full long-term work contract
- A letter of intent from your employer if you have a temporary contract
- A residency permit (best is class 1) with full working permit (when you are an EU citizen you will have it)
- A "reasonable" amount of savings when you don't have a permanent residency permit
- Sufficient income to meet the mortgage repayments.

4 Ask us how much you can get by filling in our online mortgage enquiry form - we will then advise you of your mortgage potential.

5 Now go and find your house.

6 Make an offer which should be subject to valuation and suitable finance from which a purchase contract can be produced (koopakte).

7 Application can then proceed
