Authority responsible

The authority responsible for maternity benefits in kind is your Sickness Insurance Office.

The authority responsible for cash benefits is the professional association with which you are insured.

Steps to be taken

1. To obtain benefits in kind, you should contact your Sickness Insurance Office if you are registered under the Dutch health care insurance scheme (ziekenfondsverzekering). If you wish to use the services of a "maternity centre" (kraamcentrum), you should contact a medical care association (kruisvereniging) no less than five months before the predicted date of birth.

2. To obtain daily maternity leave allowances from the professional association, you should first send a certificate of pregnancy to the professional association.
