If you are insured in the Netherlands as an employee, in the event of pregnancy, you are entitled to daily maternity leave allowances (zwangerschapsuitkering) which are equal to your full daily wage. During the 16-week period of maternity leave, you are entitled to allowances from the professional association (bedrijfsvereniging) equal to 100 % of your wage.

If you get sick as a result of your pregnancy before the period of maternity leave, you are also entitled to allowances from the professional association (bedrijfsvereniging) equal to 100 % of your wage.

If, after the period of maternity leave, a woman is unable to return to work as a consequence of her pregnancy or confinement, the same allowances (equal to 100 % of her daily wage) will continue to be paid for up to 52 weeks.
