M form not received - do I need it to file a tax return?

Question:

I am US nationality and on permanent contract in the Netherlands (Dutch based company) with type I residence permit and 30% ruling. I have lived and worked for 5 months in 2013 in the Netherlands and the rest of 2013 was US based wages. I did not receive an M-form (nor any tax invite/form). Can I go directly to a tax preparer to file my taxes or do I have to request an M-form from the tax authority and wait for the paper form to be received at my home first?

Answer:

A tax preparer can prepare the tax return without the paper M form. The tax software we use at Expatax will print out the completed M form once all income and deductions are declared. It is not necessary to wait for an invitation from the Dutch tax authorities.

See www.expatax.nl/taxreturn if you would like Expatax to help you with the M form.
