I would like to know the status of my tax return

Question:

I had submitted my 2012 tax return through a tax consultant, but I am yet to get any update from him regarding the tax return, whether I have a tax refund or do I need to pay any tax. Hence please let me know if I can get the status from the tax department directly.
Answer:

If a tax consultant prepared your tax return then you should have received a report showing the result. Expatax offers every client a full report in English providing detailed information about the calculations, deductions etc. so that it is clear whether a tax refund or a tax claim can be expected. You may want to contact your tax consultant again to get a report. You can also call the tax authorities, but this may be a challenge since the tax authorities do not speak English over the phone, which unfortunately, is standard policy. You may want to ask a Dutch speaking person to call the tax authorities on your behalf (BSN and date of birth will be asked).
