How can I get a time extension for a VAT return?

Time extension for VAT return

Unlike a personal income tax return or corporate income tax return it is not possible to get a time extension for filing a VAT return. You will always have to file the VAT return before the applicable deadline. If you don't file it before the deadline you will receive an (estimated) additional assessment which will include a fine. VAT law contains two possible fines: a fine for filing late and a fine for paying late. Filing in time is therefore important. Are you confronted with a serious calamity? Contact your tax office to discuss your options.
